Likes: Flying on Reaper and breaking student's ideas of reality, croquet, knitting, pottery, gardening, chatting with centaurs, kelpies, merfolk, hippogryphs, and trees.
Description: The man was kilt clad in the Ainsley way of wide stripes of red and blue chased with thin crosshatches of white and black lines, and matching Argyle to the knee. A black fur sporran hung to the front, similar to the white pouch Makay wore at her hip on the High Days, but far more masculine. A dirk lurked at the waist, the sgian dubh tucked itself away in his kilt hose, and a Montrose Doublet contained white lace froth at cuffs and throat, his accents twinkling. A fly plaid draped over his left shoulder.
Has a very very thick accent.
Personality: Most of the students think him a bit of a nutter. He is very enthusiastic about animals and plants, particularly the dangerous or odd ones.
Bio: Ainsley is a half-blood that was brought up not knowing about his heritage until the day he received his acceptance letter to Castle Carrick. He loved gardening as a child, and always helped with the family vegetable patch, so he and his father had always thought the vegetables were particularly large and lush due to the fertilizer and watering schedule. Unconsciously the young Ainsley had encouraged them to grow to their full potential. He also went hunting often with his father, which attracted the attention of the Hooded Man when father and son always prayed to the general conception of God for a good hunt and enough for feeding the family.
He was chosen as a Guardian during his school years, not because of his connection to any particular diety, but because he was always standing up for other students that he saw being bullied. The members of the Mythological Moot often drew the attention of nonbelievers in the student body, thus often giving Ainsley people that needed standing up for. He was expelled one year from finishing school because he accidentally strangled another student with a vine when startled during a visit with one of the loch selkies. The student did recover (and was also expelled for instigating a fight that almost became deadly), but the fact that the deed was done had set the then members of the school board against him.
Ainsley was occupied for a few years after in playing for a band, but it never went very far. Professor Guirmean sought him out after the last Groundskeeper was no longer able to fulfill his duties. He helps provide the school's meat by raising animals and hunting, as well as his garden helping with the vegetable needs. He trades with the merclan for fish for the school, but they also allow him to fish for his own needs. Sometimes he and Kirsty will fish for the kitchens (as she wields a mean net) as part of the trade agreement or will pole fish for fun and challenge (eating what is caught).
Parents: Mary and Gaevin Ainsley
Descendants: None
Familiars: Two large dark Newfoundland and wolf cross dogs. He calls them Skinner and Tanner when not referring to them as saps.
Quirks: Treats animals and trees as if they are people.
Special: He has a thinking, living, flying lawnmower named Reaper.
