Bio: David was born a werewolf, as his father is one of the Hounds. David’s family is old, the Valnarius were involved in many of the battles in the feudal era (and later), and have a small castle. Shadowcrest also boasts a magically warmed vineyard even though it is always snowy. David, unfortunately, killed his mother when very young while transformed.
His father never remarried. There is a portrait of her hanging in the stairway that leads down into the ground floor.
David and Kirsty met while doing the preparatory shopping for their first year at Castle Carrick. He helped Kirsty pick up her things after Lilitu knocked them all over. Kirsty has been fascinated and grateful ever since.
David has had plenty of adventures on his own, both before he met Kirsty and after. As his father is an alchemist (or potioneer, depending on interpretation) the two have had to go on extended journeys before in order to obtain certain materials. As one of the Hounds of Herne he has also received various tasks of his own both on the dream plane and in the physical world. During the course of his stay at the school in his first year he had to disarm and kill a rogue silche when Kirsty was attacked and incapacitated during a swim away from the rest of the students. This spear is now safely kept in David's home where it cannot be used against Kirsty, and due to his deeds among the selkies/silches of the Black Loch he is counted as a warrior. David has been trained in both physical combat (mainly swords) and magical combat before coming to the school and continually improves on this training whenever the families of his home area enter into dreamgames and reenact histories and battles. There are also times that he accompanies Kirsty on her night courses, and sometimes during the full moon he will hunt with the local wolf pack before Kirsty arrives from her duties. Occasionally he will stand guard over Kirsty when she asks if the water has alerted her to things that she needs to do for it that would leave her defenseless.
The lands surrounding his home are not peaceful, and like Kirsty's home at Seal Point do for the northern Irish coastline, Shadowcrest and Fimbulheim (the lands around Shadowcrest that overlap Germany as understood in the Cowan and most of the magical world). The Valnarius family is part of a knightly order as well, thus why combat training is passed down. It is usual there for a wizard to have his wand hidden in a sword as it makes it harder to be disarmed magically, as well as giving the advantage of using both modes of defense. This is not a widespread tactic, though it is similar to how certain selkie clans use their spears in the manner that human magic users use their wands.
David will soon be old enough for his own rite of passage into adulthood (among his people), which takes place a year after the traditional period that the selkies have their members do so.
Parents: Namrod Valnarius and (name of mother must be reverified with my mate before being shared).
Descendants: None yet.
Quirks: Tends to wear dark clothes, often with fur (this is not considered a quirk by Kirsty, but very reasonable at the Castle during winter). Intends to be an even better potioneer than his father, who himself is one of the best. Can talk to basilisks with the use of his wand at the corner of his jaw.
Special: Creates his own familiar, a brass snake that he feeds with coins and bits of brass. Also owns an eagle to deliver letters.
He and his father also have a basilisk, that Kirsty first met briefly when it was newly hatched and Namrod brought it to introduce it and impress it to David. This impression visit happened when David was visiting Kirsty in the medical wing after another unfortunate incident requiring an overnight, and actually likely made it easier for Kirsty when she visited their home, as she was already then known to it.
